You set sales targets and commission for salesmen from Tally data on the Team Sales screen: a target and a commission figure per member, computed from Tally sales on an Orders or Invoices basis, for Month, Quarter or Year. Receipts cannot feed that figure. Salesman target commission tracking, on this Guwahati book, is five people and about 120 dealers. Raju on Station Road carries ₹8,00,000 for August. Manoj on GS Road carries ₹7,50,000. Fancy Bazaar, NH-37 and Beltola have their own. By 8 PM the owner opens Team Sales on the web, the same screen that also runs on the phone. The leaderboard has the five names. He toggles Orders or Invoices. He picks Month, or Quarter, or Year. Gupta Stores paid ₹8,400 by UPI at 3 PM. That money sits on the dealer. It does not move Raju's commission. If Manoj booked a Station Road order, the owner reassigns attribution. Tally is not touched. This article walks the rupee example, the periods, and the basis.
Key Highlights

How do I set sales targets and commission for salesmen from Tally data?
On Team Sales. The owner opens the screen, picks the period, sets a target per member, and lets the commission figure follow Tally sales on the basis he has chosen.
Salesman target commission tracking starts with names already on the book. Station Road is Raju. GS Road is Manoj. About 120 dealers across five lists. The Salesman app for Tally is where Raju books. Team Sales is where the owner reads what those bookings did to the month, on the web at the desk or on the phone after dinner. Beats, Dispatch and Team Sales also work on the web. Visit capture stays on the phone. Beat-wise sales management is the day that feeds this screen.
The target is a rupee number the owner types. The commission is computed from the Tally sales already against that salesman. He WhatsApps at 8:05. "Raju ka target kitna hua?" The answer is on Team Sales.
The August rupee example on Station Road
Keep August as Month. Five targets, typed once.
| Salesman | Beat | August target |
|---|---|---|
| Raju | Station Road | ₹8,00,000 |
| Manoj | GS Road | ₹7,50,000 |
| Fancy Bazaar beat | Fancy Bazaar | ₹6,50,000 |
| NH-37 beat | NH-37 | ₹6,00,000 |
| Beltola beat | Beltola | ₹5,50,000 |
These figures are illustrative, the round numbers a Guwahati wholesaler puts on a field team.
Tuesday, Gupta Stores. Raju checks out and books 14 cartons, ₹42,000. It lands in Tally as an ordinary Sales Order, which is the point of salesman order taking without re-entry. He can raise an order after check-out or any other time. Order creation is not gated on Team Sales.
By the last week of August the owner opens Raju. Orders basis: ₹9,20,000 booked, above the ₹8,00,000 target. Invoices basis: ₹6,40,000 billed, still ₹1,60,000 short. Same salesman, same month, two conversations depending on the toggle.
Say the owner treats commission as 1 percent of the chosen sales total, an owner rule. On invoices that is ₹6,400 so far this month. On orders that is ₹9,200. Incentive on orders or on invoices is the longer walk through that choice.
Gupta Stores pays ₹8,400 by UPI at 3 PM against an old bill. The receipt sits on Gupta Stores. Raju's ₹6,400 does not become ₹6,484. Salesman target commission tracking reads sales. It does not read money in.
Month, Quarter and Year on the same book
Team Sales has three periods: Month, Quarter and Year. The owner picks one. The target he typed is for that window.
August as Month is ₹8,00,000 for Raju. Quarter needs its own figure, ₹24,00,000 for July to September. Year is the same move with a larger line, ₹96,00,000 if he wants twelve months on Station Road. Switching the period does not invent a target. He types the number that matches the window.
The five people do not share one target. Fancy Bazaar is tighter than Station Road. Each member has his own rupee line. The leaderboard is those five lines stacked. Raju can be above a monthly target and still behind a quarter target if July was thin.
A salesman-wise sales report from the register still answers who billed what. Team Sales is that answer with a target next to it, and a commission figure under it, for the period he actually pays on.
Orders or invoices, never the receipt
The basis toggle is Orders or Invoices. There is no collections basis.
On Orders, credit follows the Sales Order. Raju's ₹9,20,000 in August is every order that carries his name in that month, including Gupta Stores' ₹42,000 from Tuesday.
On Invoices, credit follows the invoice. The office has billed ₹6,40,000 of Raju's work. The rest is still a Sales Order sitting open. Pending orders not yet invoiced is that open list. Commission waits for the toggle.
A receipt is a third thing. Gupta's ₹8,400 is money against a ledger. Team Sales does not put that rupee on Raju. Who gets credit for the order can move a sale between members. Receipts cannot be attributed.
Station Road's overdue sits on the parties. Salesman-wise collection accountability is that ledger view, a separate question from the commission figure. Mixing Orders in week one and Invoices in week three is how two brothers start an argument about ₹2,80,000.
Reassignment does not rewrite Tally
Wednesday Manoj covers two Station Road shops because Raju is at a family function. He books ₹18,000 at a kirana that sits on Raju's beat. The Sales Order goes into Tally against that party, written back from the phone, with Manoj's name on the attribution.
At night the owner sees ₹18,000 on Manoj. Station Road's target is Raju's. He reassigns that order's attribution to Raju.
Tally is not touched. The voucher keeps the same party, the same items, the same number. Nobody in the office voids and re-enters it. Team Sales now reads the ₹18,000 on Raju. Manoj's line drops it.
Reassignment is who gets sales credit. The books stay the books. What field teams actually need from a Tally app in India is still the order landing once.
What Team Sales is for at 8 PM
By 8 PM the five vans are in. The owner used to call each man. "Kitna hua aaj?" Team Sales is the leaderboard from the same Tally sales the office already trusts. Each row is a target, a sales total on the chosen basis, and a commission figure. Period is Month. Basis is Invoices. Raju is at ₹6,40,000 against ₹8,00,000.
The screen also runs on the phone. Station Road stays a named list. There is no scheduler, no map, and no all-day tracking. Commission stays on orders or invoices. The ₹8,400 Gupta sent at 3 PM sits on the dealer.
The ₹8,00,000 and ₹6,40,000 in this article are the worked example on one Guwahati book. The only public scale figures behind Takkada are 100+ businesses and ₹17Cr+ collected monthly, platform-wide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I set sales targets and commission for salesmen from Tally data?
A: On Team Sales. Set a target per member, pick Month, Quarter or Year, and let the commission figure follow Tally sales on an Orders or Invoices basis. Receipts cannot feed that figure. A Guwahati book with five salesmen and about 120 dealers is five rows on that screen.
Q: What does salesman target commission tracking show for August?
A: Each member's target, the sales total on the chosen basis, and the commission figure computed from that sales total. For Raju in this example the August target is ₹8,00,000, orders sit at ₹9,20,000, invoices sit at ₹6,40,000, and a ₹8,400 receipt at Gupta Stores does not move the commission.
Q: Does a receipt move the commission figure on Team Sales?
A: No. The basis toggle is Orders or Invoices. Receipts cannot be attributed to a salesman. Money in stays on the dealer ledger.
Q: Do Month, Quarter and Year share one target number?
A: No. The target you type is for the period on the screen. Switching from Month to Quarter means typing the quarter figure. Raju's ₹8,00,000 is an August number. A July to September line is a different number.
Q: Does reassigning an order change Tally?
A: No. Reassignment moves who gets sales credit on Team Sales. The Tally voucher keeps the same party, items and number. Nobody voids and re-enters it.
Q: Where does the salesman book the order that later shows on Team Sales?
A: From the phone, after check-out or at any other time. The order lands in Tally as an ordinary Sales Order. Order creation is not gated on Team Sales. Team Sales reads that sale once it exists.
