Order links for hardware shops let the retailers who buy from your wholesale business type their own orders against your item list, so "two dozen 1.5 inch screws, the brass ones" becomes the exact stock item in your Tally. You send the link on WhatsApp. The shop owner opens it in his browser, searches by a size or a word from the item name, narrows by category where your items are grouped, enters quantities and taps Place order. Takkada holds it for you in Customer orders. You confirm the shop against your books, check quantities and rates, and press Create order for a Sales Order or Create invoice to bill it. Tally gets that voucher on the next sync from the office computer. The shop needs no app or login and types his mobile number when he sends. The page sends quantities only, so rates come from your side, and stock counts are never shown.
Forty lines over the phone
A hardware wholesaler with 120 retail shops carries thousands of stock items: fasteners in every length, hinges in three finishes, pipe fittings by diameter, paint in shades and pack sizes. Credit runs 30 to 60 days. A typical retailer order is long, and it comes by phone while the counter is busy. The person taking it writes "SS hinge 4 inch" when Tally has six items that could match. The mismatch shows up as a return a week later.
Searching your own item names
The link lists your Tally stock items, 30 at a time with Show more items below. The retailer types a few letters, "hinge" or "cpvc", and the list narrows to matches. If your items are grouped into categories, chips across the top filter by them, and the empty-result message tells him to try a shorter word. Each item shows the unit it is sold in, so he orders pieces, boxes or kilos the way you sell them.
Before you share the link, open Items on this link and switch off anything you never sell to retailers. If your stock figures are accurate, switch off Show items that are out of stock so items at zero or less stay hidden.
Rates for trade buyers
Under Prices customers see you can show Tally rates, the Last billed rate per item, a Tally price level, your own typed prices, or Don't show prices. A wholesaler who keeps a dealer rate as a Tally price level can show exactly that. An item with no rate reads On request. Whatever is shown, the page sends item and quantity only.
From order to Tally entry
Open the order in Customer orders. The app suggests a party match where it can; tap Yes, that is them, or pick the shop yourself. Change any Quantity, Rate (excl. GST) or Disc % before approving. A 40-line order is still one screen to check, with the lines named as your stock items.
Press Create order, or Create invoice if the goods are going out today. The note box on the order carries anything the shop owner added, such as a delivery time. See the WhatsApp order link for distributors guide for the full flow and the order booking app for Tally page for the screens.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: My item names in Tally are cryptic. Will retailers find things?
A: They search the names in your Tally, so clearer names help. Category chips narrow the list when your items are grouped.
Q: Is there a limit on lines in one order?
A: Up to 50 lines per order. A bigger order can go as two.
Q: Can I show my dealer rates only?
A: Yes. Keep them as a Tally price level and choose Price level under Prices customers see.
Q: Can I give one shop a different discount?
A: With Personal party links switched on, the shop's own link has a Link discount % setting that applies to every item on his link.
