300+ Retailers on Credit: AI Collection Calls for FMCG Distributors

AI collection calls for FMCG distributors cover the retailers your salesmen cannot reach on today's beat. In Takkada, you open Send reminders now, filter by Tally ledger group or search, tick the overdue kirana and general stores, and tap Call with AI. An AI agent calls each shop in the language you set, names your business and the amount due from your Tally books, and asks when they will pay. Each answer comes back as a follow-up on that retailer: Will pay with an amount and date, No answer, Wrong number, Disputes amount or Refused, with a note and, once ready, the recording. If a retailer misses the promised date, the AI can call again on its own a set number of days later. For a distributor with 300 or more retailers and small bills on short credit, that means every overdue shop gets asked, and every answer is written down where the salesman and the office can both see it.

The FMCG collection day

A typical FMCG distributor runs six beats a week across 300 to 400 retailers. Credit is short, 7 to 15 days, and bills are small: ₹4,000 here, ₹11,500 there. The salesman collects cash and cheques from the shops on today's route. Everyone else waits for next week's visit.

That is where the overdue list grows. By the end of the month, sixty shops are past their days, and most of them owe under ₹20,000. Nobody in the office can call sixty shops between dispatch and billing, and the salesman does not want to chase a shopkeeper he will be standing in front of on Thursday.

How the calls fit the beat

Send reminders now lists every party with an overdue amount, showing the overdue total, the number of overdue bills and the age of the oldest bill. The overdue total matches your Bills Receivable screen. If your Tally ledgers are grouped by route or area, the group chips let you pick the beats that are not running this week and tick only those shops.

Tap Call with AI and the confirm sheet shows how many parties will be called and the cost before you tap Call now. The result sheet then says "Queued 42 calls" and names every shop that was skipped, with the reason: no phone number on the ledger, asked not to be called, a call already queued, nothing overdue, or the monthly AI call limit reached.

What the salesman sees the next morning

Each call is logged as a follow-up against the retailer, tagged AI. With the Recovery dashboard on, it sits on the party's timeline next to the salesman's own visits and calls. A shop that said "Friday ko ₹6,200 de dunga" has that promise saved, and Recovery's History tab shows it as promised ₹6,200 by Friday. A shop that disputes a scheme credit or a short-supplied case shows Disputes amount, and the note holds the reason and the disputed invoice.

That changes the beat. The salesman walks into a shop knowing it promised Friday, or knowing the bill is held up over a return, instead of opening the conversation from zero.

Settings that suit retail hours

Shops are busiest in the morning rush and the evening. In the AI calling settings you choose the calling hours (10 to 6 by default), the calling days (Monday to Saturday by default), and a cap on AI calls per retailer per month, four by default. The language is one of twelve, Hindi by default, and the tone is Polite or Firm. Polite suits a retailer you will be selling to for years.

With "Call again when a promise is missed" on, a shop that does not pay by its promised date gets a second call a set number of days later, tagged AI · auto.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I call only the shops on one beat?

A: Yes, if your Tally ledgers are grouped by beat or area. Send reminders now has ledger group chips, so you can filter to one group and tick only those retailers.

Q: Will the AI call a shop with no mobile number in Tally?

A: No. A party without a mobile number on the ledger shows "No mobile number saved" and cannot be ticked.

Q: What if a shop says it already paid the salesman?

A: The note records the claim, with the payment date and reference if the shopkeeper gives them, so the office can check it against the receipt.

Q: How many times will the AI call the same shop?

A: As many times as you allow. The default cap is four AI calls per party per month, and you can set it anywhere from 1 to 31.
